Privacy policy.

Last updated: October 2026. This policy explains what the Scratch Circle app and website collect, why, and the choices you have.

Scratch Circle (“we”, “us”) runs the Scratch Circle app and this website. We collect only what we need to run the features you use. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers.

What we collect

  • Account details. When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name and email and a sign-in identifier from that provider. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we receive Apple’s relay address, not your real one.
  • Golf data you create. Your skill level, Launch Monitor shot results, swing analysis history, drill completions, and your Player Card settings (the name on the card and the club it features). Much of this is kept on your device and is also saved to your account on our servers once you are signed in, so it follows you between devices.
  • Swing videos. If you record or upload a swing video for AI analysis, we receive the video and the frames taken from it. We delete the video from our servers when the analysis finishes. If you play your swing back in slow motion, a short clip made from your swing is kept for up to two hours and then deleted. Your analysis results are saved to your swing history.
  • Camera and microphone. The in-app swing recorder uses your camera and microphone to record your swing and the sound of the strike. The recording leaves your phone only when you choose to analyse it. Live ball tracking in the Launch Monitor runs on your phone, and we save the resulting shot numbers, not the camera footage.
  • Your Focus Plan, badges and handle. Your plan, the badges you have earned and the handle you type on your Player Card are kept on your phone only. We do not upload them, and they are lost if you delete the app. Reminders are scheduled on your phone as local notifications; we do not send push notifications. Our servers record only that you used a free Focus Plan check, so that each free check is given once.
  • Your Player Card photo. A photo you add to your Player Card is kept on your phone only. We do not upload it. When you share a card, your phone sends the image to the app you choose.
  • Location (optional). If you allow it, your approximate location is used to look up altitude and weather for adjusting Launch Monitor distances. You can decline and still use the app.
  • Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write.
  • Technical information. We use an error-monitoring service that receives technical details when something goes wrong, such as the type of device and the error. This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when you open a page.

How we use it

  • To provide the app: sign you in, analyse your swings, calculate your Launch Monitor numbers, build your Player Card, keep your history, and enforce plan limits.
  • To answer your emails and support requests.
  • To tell you when the app is available, if you asked to join the waitlist. We use the address for that and nothing else, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems.

AI processing

To produce swing coaching, the frames from your video and the measurements taken from them are sent to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic), which returns the written feedback. We send what is needed to produce your analysis. The AI’s output is guidance and may be imperfect.

Who else receives data

We use service providers to run Scratch Circle, and they process data on our behalf: cloud hosting for the app’s servers and for this website; Google and Apple for sign-in; the AI provider above; RevenueCat, which checks your purchases for us (see Payments below); weather and place-name lookup services (receiving the coordinates or place names needed to answer a request); and the error-monitoring service. When you follow a link to Instagram, Instagram’s own privacy policy applies. We may disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.

Payments

Paid plans are billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us. We do not collect or store your payment card details. We use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service, to confirm what you have bought. When you buy or restore a plan, RevenueCat receives your account identifier and the purchase details from the store, such as the plan, its dates and whether it is active, along with technical information such as your device type and IP address. Our servers ask RevenueCat which plan you hold so that we can apply its limits. RevenueCat also handles this data under its own privacy policy. Refunds and cancellations are handled by the store, under its policies. Deleting your Scratch Circle account does not cancel a paid plan: cancel it in your store settings.

Your choices and deleting your account

  • Delete your account. In the app, go to Profile and choose Delete Account. This permanently erases your account and the data saved to it on our servers, and clears the copy on your device.
  • Access or correct your data. Email us and we will help.
  • Permissions. You can turn camera, microphone and location access off at any time in your phone’s settings. Camera-based features need the camera to work.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account we erase it as described above, apart from anything we are required by law to keep.

Children

Scratch Circle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. We take reasonable steps to protect it wherever it is processed.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app.
